Charles (Chuck) W. Capel began his career in banking in 1983 when he was signed as the first employee of Bank Data Centers, Inc. As Vice President of Operations he helped build the company into a multi-bank service center with annual revenues exceeding $1 million. Software projects included the development of an online real-time ATM switch, an interactive report writer, and multiple customer reader/sorter interfaces.
In 1987 Mr. Capel left Bank Data Centers and joined Bank Services Corp. of Colorado Springs, Colorado to pursue bank software development and became a principal of that company in 1993. It was during this time that he developed a product "PC BancPAC" that is now owned and marketed by Fidelity under the name "BancPac". BancPac is a core accounting system that currently processes over 700 US banks in both in-house and service bureau environments. In addition to the BancPac product, he was responsible for developing the first ever PC based check capture system utilizing Unisys high speed transports. This product was utilized to capture over 200,000 checks per day in operations centers located in Denver and Colorado Springs .
In June of 1994 Mr. Capel relocated to Mount Pleasant, Texas and accepted a position with Guaranty Bank to assist in their conversion to the Nicola core accounting product and to the Dataworks check and statement imaging system. After the successful implementation, he was recruited by Dataworks in January of 1997 to develop a "read-and-key" proof system for use on the Unisys NDP-250/500 line of multi-pocket proof and sorter hardware. This project was tremendously successful in the market, selling 20 units in 9 months. However, Dataworks shortly sold to NCR ending the arrangement with Unisys. In the fall of 1998 Chuck returned to Guaranty Bank as Vice President of Data Processing.
The acquisition of Dataworks prompted the formation of Guaranty Technology which was later renamed to Integrated Bank Technology. Mr. Capel currently oversees Product Management and Implementations for Integrated Bank Technology.
